SEPT. 5, 2012 - BRYCE CANYON NATIONAL PARK

WEDNESDAY
SEPTEMBER 5, 2012

In the morning, we boarded the Bryce NP Shuttle
for a 3 1/2 hour Tour, guided by Cliff..
He took us to the Southern most part of the Park
which is a 20 mile drive,
only accessible via this
special Shuttle.
Cliff took us to Rainbow and Yovimpa Points,
as well as Natural Bridge, and other points
of interest.

You can learn more about Bryce at:

Cliff explained that Natural Bridge is technically
an Arch because it was formed
by wind, rain and snow
rather than by Water erosion.

We got off of the 3 1/2 hour Shuttle at The Lodge,
and had lunch with two other couples
who had been on the morning tour with us.

The Lodge had an excellent Buffet
with three hot choices, Salad bar, Soup,
Fresh fruit and a Beverage for $12.25.

In the afternoon we took the FREE Shuttle to Northern
destinations, first stopping at the Visitors Center
to view the 22 minute Orientation video.
The day's Grande Finale was a stop at
Bryce's Point,
We felt totally immersed in Bryce's beauty
when we walked a short path
out to Bryce Point .

This view from Bryce's Point,
elevation 8300 ft., shows the white trail
for the Horse and Mule rides.

Part of this rock formation
is called a Grotto,
and the Canyon walls were
lined with many like these.

Looking across to the Grotto walls,
from Bryce's Point.  We were told
the visibility was 100 to 110 miles today.

When I completed the 360 degree view at
Bryce's Point, this "Dancing Cedar"
as I named it, was behind me.

Deep down in the Canyon
I could see these HooDoo
formations. HooDoos are a pillar of rock,
usually of fantastic shape, left by
erosion.  HooDoo means to cast a spell.
The views at Bryce's Point were
Spellbinding!
