SEPTEMBER 7, 2012 - Traveling to TORREY, UTAH

FRIDAY
SEPTEMBER 7, 2012

ON THE ROAD AGAIN,

 traveling to Torrey, Utah from
Ruby's RV Park at the edge of Bryce Canyon National Park,
was only 114 miles, but took us 3 hours 15 minutes.

We had two very strenuous climbs on Route 12 East
with grades ranging from 6 to 10%.

As we crested at 9,600 feet,
livestock greeted us, in the middle of the road.
Thank God we had completed that climb,
and could safely wait for them to "mooove."

It gave me time to take their picture.

I had a close call with one steer that came along side my window.
We were literally, eye to eye.

Brown Steer came too close for comfort,
especially since I had the window open.

We prayed a lot today,
because there were two times
when we were down to 10 mph,
and Russ just did not think
our Ford 350 gas engine
was going to get us to the top.

In addition to the steep uphills, on the downhills
we had horseshoes curves, and
lots of curves.

However, when we passed folks who were
peddling their way, we were grateful
we did not have the elements to
deal with that they did.  At least
we were in an air conditioned vehicle.

Two of our milestones today, were reaching 88,000 miles
on our odometer which means we have traveled 11,000 miles
since leaving home.  We also found ourselves right back in
WAYNE County (UTAH that is).

  1. Note: I have added a few pictures to this posting. We are now in Moab, UT, and have good Verizon MIFI service for the next five days.
