OCTOBER 9, 2012
We started our day at 10:48 AM by driving into
Santa Fe, using the ART MAP, as our guide.
Our first stop was at 1075 Paseo de Peralta,
to visit the Nedra Matteucci Galleries and Gardens.
They had been suggested to us by the
artist we met in Taos, at an Opening in her honor.
Evelyne Boren is an Impressionist artist,
with work that I could really relate to.
In fact, I could not get two of her paintings out
of my mind, and wish I had asked
permission to photograph them,
when she and I talked in the Heinley Fine Arts in Taos.

Both paintings enticed us into this gallery.
I never expected to meet the painter
of these two beautiful works,
and in fact, did not realize
these were her works,
when I did meet her.
The others in Heinley Fine Arts
were dramatic in their size,
and vivid colors,
in both Watercolor and Oils.
Some of the Oils were painted with a palette knife,
a medium she has recently been enjoying.
It gives the painting a three dimensional depth.
You can see that technique in Welcoming Spring below.
When we entered the Nedra Matteucci Galleries,
the first thing we asked to see was more
of Evelyne Boren's works.
These are the two they had on display that day.

NEDRA MATTEUCCI GALLERIES
had so many exciting works of Art
we could have spent the entire day there.
The exhibit entitled: INNER VISION featured
Michael Naranjo (1944 -).
When he was 22 year old,
"While serving in Vietnam, he sustained major injuries
from an exploding grenade.
He lost the use of his right hand;
the explosion blinded him permanently in both eyes."
according to his biography.

In addition to all the Sculpture inside,
we had the joy of walking in the Garden
which captured our fancy for close to an hour.
There was a waterfall, and pond with Koi fish
and ducks.
As much as I would like to show you all the gorgeous Garden
sculpture, I will have to admit the bright sun
caused such shadows I was not able to
get good images.
However, this one spectacular multiple
sculpture entitled RESCUE by Glenna Goodacre (1939 - )
I took separate pictures to show the
portion with two boys and the cat
they are trying to Rescue and
the two little at the
base of the tree, looking very
worried and concerned.
It was valued at $325,000.00,
but truly was priceless,
for the joy it must bring the visitors
to that Garden.
One of the Gallery staff suggested
a place for us to have lunch.
We moved our truck to a public parking lot
near the Cathedral for $2 per hr. or $10 for the day,
and walked to GAUDALUPE CAFE
on Old Santa Fe, near the State Capital Bldg.
By that time, it was warm enough to be
seated on their patio.
The food was excellent, and a work of art in
its presentation.
Our afternoon was so full that I will
report on it separately,
as Part Two.
