OCTOBER 8 - Travel to, and time in SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO

MONDAY
OCTOBER 8, 2012

We awoke this morning to find temperatures had dropped
to 20.3 degrees overnight, and it was 22 degrees when
we got up.  By the time we headed to Santa Fe, it had warmed up to 54.
We had a two hour drive to cover 81 miles on Rt. 68 and then
US84/285 SOUTH to Rancheros de Santa Fe Camp Ground,
where we arrived at 1 PM.

We drove into Santa Fe and immediately went to the
Visitor's Center.  We are so glad we did.
The man there told us about FIESTA TOURS,
an open-air Santa Fe style bus,
that departed at 5 PM, a short walk from the Visitor's Center.
The $15 per person,
more than paid for itself in giving us a 75 minute
overview of the attractions to be enjoyed.
He took us down Canyon Road which is lined with
Art Galleries and cozy Cafes.
He told us about three or four Churches that
we drove passed or circled,
so I could take pictures.
He covered the local history and
made suggestions about the various
attractions we might return to
the next day.

Here are a few of the sights we saw.

LORETTO CHAPEL

ST. FRANCIS CATHEDRAL
BASICILICA

GALLERY GARDEN
ON CANYON ROAD

At the recommendation of my Brother and my Cousin,
we made dinner reservations at
VANESSIE on West Water Streeet,
so we could enjoy the piano music
by Doug Montgomery.
We had an excellent table location in the Piano Bar area.

We had the added pleasure of his
long time friend, a Violinist who
accompanied him, as well as two
other friends he called up to sing.

We stayed from 7 - 10 PM, for his
non-stop performance.  He was
scheduled to play until 11 PM.

What a full and wonderful day.
