WEDNESDAY
OCTOBER 3, 2012
At 11 AM, we drove into town, and parked at the
Albuquerque Museum of Art & History, where
parking is FREE with Museum admission.
We discovered later, thanks to our tour guide,
that first Wednesdays are also FREE at the Museum.
We read the menu for the SLATE at the MUSEUM Cafe,
and immediately decided to have lunch there.
What a gourmet experience that was.
Their Chicken Salad was offered for $3.00,
and I had Steamed Garlic Green Beans;
Russ chose a cup of their Green Chili Chicken Soup.
The entire lunch for two was less than $13.00.

ABQ Trolley Co.
is the only Trolley in the USA with
Stucco trim.
It is operated by tourism industry professionals,
Jesse Herron and Mike Silva.
They have been operating since May 5, 2009.
Contact: www.ABQTROLLEY.com or
505-240-8000 to
learn more about their services.
We really enjoyed our tour,
and felt the $23 per Senior was money well spent.

We had a wonderful 85 minute tour of Albuquerque,
and they paused at important locations for us
to take pictures from the trolley.
Historic Route 66
was part of the route we
traveled on our Tour.
Mike did the narration,
and Jesse was our driver.
Mike explained that one of the lessons
Albuquerque has learned is that it is
important to keep their historic buildings,
so the Town Fathers have resisted clearing
them away for parking lots and other purposes.
Many buildings have sat vacant for years,
waiting for just the right tenant, and
investors who will restore the buildings.
The 1927 KIMO Theatre, designed in Pueblo-Deco
style and restored in the 70's, offers
performances by touring speaking and musical tours,
live theatrical events, and local indie-film debuts.
This mural at Fire Headquarters
is three dimensional.
While we were stopped
viewing some unique architecture,
by Bart Prince,
someone spotted this Roadrunner,
and we all went crazy taking its picture.

After our tour, we took advantage
of the First Wednesday FREE Admission
at the Albuquerque Museum of Art and History.
A featured display we particularly
enjoyed was recently opened -
Sept. 20 thru Jan. 6, 2013.
MACHINE WILDERNESS
The Museum's brochure describes this vehicle:
"Artists Ivan Puig and Andres Padilla Domene
re-establish relationships with remote communities
in Mexico residing along the abandoned railway.
SEFT 1 uses the specially designed car on display
to document the stories, languages and
material culture
(including potsherds, cell phones, and scrapbooks)
of the people they encountered."
There was a video showing the
inventors and their actual
operation of the vehicle on tracks.
We concluded our first full day in Albuquerque
by driving out to The County Line Restaurant,
at 9600 Tramway Blvd. NE,
at 9600 Tramway Blvd. NE,
for an exceptional dinner.
This view was part of our delicious
experience there.
We followed the advice of our tour guide, Mike,
to try some food with either red or green chili
while in New Mexico.
So I ordered Green Chili Stuffed Peppered Pork Loin.
I'm so glad I ordered the 1/2 lb. serving for $13.99,
so I had meat leftover to bring home.
Russ ordered Smoked Prime Rib for $16.99,
and was equally happy to have leftovers.

Both meals were memorable, and so very good.
