AUGUST 17 - YOSEMITE TOUR

FRIDAY
AUGUST 17, 2012

We had to be up and out early this morning, 7 AM to be exact.
We signed up for a Guided Bus Tour of Yosemite that started from The Lodge at 8:45 AM.
However, we had to drive from our camp ground in El Portel to Yosemite National Park, and
then drive fifteen miles into the park to get to the Lodge, where there was no parking.
That meant we had to go to a special parking area and take a Shuttle to the Lodge.
Although the total distance was only 21 miles, we just bearly made it to
the Lodge in time for the Tour.
We were the last to board,
and sat in the farthest back seats,
which we had for the entire day.

NOTE:  It was conveniently close to the on-board bathroom.

Our first stop of the morning was to take pictures
 of Half Dome Rock formation,
behind us..

Russ and Rita at Half Dome

Yosemite Falls at Half Dome photo stop.

Lunch was at the Historic Wawona Hotel.
We paid extra for that option, and it was worth the extra
thirteen dollars.

After lunch we had the adventure of riding in an
open air TRAM to view Mariposa Grove
of Sequoias.

This group of Sequoias was one of the first stops
and it had the name of Three Graces and the Bachelor.

Our guide Herb, was a professional photographer
before retiring, and
he offered to take anyone's picture,
in this Walk Through Living Tree.
